Today the New York Videogame Critics Circle announced the next person to obtain the Andrew Yoon Award. With Microsoft’s Phil Spencer accepting the award.

In an official post the NYVCC stated:

“Phil Spencer is the exact sort of person you want as an executive of a gaming company,” said Harold Goldberg, president and founder, NYVGCC. “He has consistently shown his commitment to making Xbox the most consumer friendly and diverse platform in the console gaming space. Phil has transformed Xbox into one of the most progressive companies truly pushing the medium forward. He is an exemplary figure that encourages the message that games are for everyone and we are honored to present him with the 2022 Andrew Yoon Legend Award.”

Phil Spencer has catapulted Xbox to new heights under his leadership. Despite the poor launch of the Xbox One Spencer brought the brand back by focusing on what gamers want. The exceptionally priced Xbox Game Pass, high-quality AAA games such as Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 5, and improving existing games with the power of the Xbox Series.

The 12th annual New York Game Awards will be held live in person from the SVA Theatre in Manhattan, NY on January 17, 2023. Tickets are now available.
