Sony is pulling the plugs of multiplayer servers for the most recently released Killzone games, as previously announced by Guerrilla Games.

It’s now confirmed that multiplayer servers for Killzone Shadow Fall, the PS Vita title Killzone Mercenary, have been taken offline. This includes Killzone Shadow Fall‘s cooperative Intercept game mode including the standalone option.

The decision was made by the developer on July 22nd but now players cannot obtain all the trophies in those games anymore. This has been a huge issue for many players who return to older titles only to find multiplayer achievements/trophies impossible to obtain.

As for the future of the franchise, Guerrilla has moved on to Horizon. It’s impossible for another studio to take over. However, many remember what happened when Insomniac Games left Resistance behind and someone else took over. Perhaps it’s time for Killzone to end.
