Scalpers have become a real problem this generation for gamers. From GPUs to modern consoles scalpers have used loopholes to secure massive inventory for the repurpose of reselling the items. With Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Editions now being resold at huge markups.

This special edition costs $90 but is being resold for over $300 on eBay. eBay does have a policy that all items sold must be in the seller’s possession. This means you cannot sell a pre-order. This resulted in eBay removing many listings for Valve’s Steamdeck however other sites still exist like Facebook.

Lawmakers are becoming more aware of these practices and are taking legal action. Such as with the US with the Stopping Grinch Bots Act and the EU banning bots used in purchasing products.
