For months a rumor competitor to Xbox Game Pass was in development by Sony. Sony has revealed it as new tiers for PlayStation Plus that bundles the PlayStation Now service.

The 3 tiers include:

PlayStation Plus Essential

Includes PlayStation Now with no changes in price

PlayStation Plus Extra

Includes PlayStation Plus and access to 400 PS4 and PS5 games that can be downloaded and played. Does not include day 1 access to PlayStation exclusives.

It will cost $14.99 monthly / $39.99 quarterly / $99.99 yearly.

PlayStation Plus Premium

Includes PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus in addition to PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games. PS3 games can only be streamed with all other titles available for streaming or download through PS4, PS5, or PC.

It will cost $17.99 monthly / $49.99 quarterly / $119.99 yearly.

This means that PlayStation Now will be rebranded and removed as part of these tiers. As for the deal itself, it’s a good deal if you play a lot of PlayStation. Combining both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now ensures access to all services Sony offers through the console. However, given Xbox’s service provides day 1 access to Xbox exclusives and even some third-party games that’s something this service does not give.
