Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape has gone months without any sort of update until now. With Ubisoft deciding to shut down the game this April.

In an official post Ubisoft stated:

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.

To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished.

Reach out to us if you have questions.

Sincerely, Hyper Scape

Hyper Scape was popular when it launched but due to balance problems and lack of post-launch content the game was quickly overshadowed by more popular battle royale games such as Apex Legends and Fortnite. Despite many publishers and developers attempting to cut a pie of the battle royale pie during the height of its popularity, most were overshadowed by Respawn Entertainment and Epic Games.

This could also be a result of the studio bleeding talent. Many top employees within Ubisoft have been leaving the company. This is coupled with the studio’s array of sexual harassment claims and the company is not in a good state at the moment.
