The Light and Darkness Saga will continue with The Witch Queen, Destiny 2’s newest expansion, on February 2nd, 2022. The release date was one of the many things Bungie announced and showed off on Tuesday during a live-streamed event. New enemies abound in the new trailer for The Witch Queen, and Savathûn is the one pulling strings behind everything. Players will go to her Throne World and face the Lucent Brood – Hive infused with Light in the expansion. (Check them out in the trailer!) Bungie has added a new mechanic to help Guardians take down these new fierce enemies; weapon crafting. They touch on it mildly in the video below, but they also talk about a new weapon that will be entering the fray with The Witch Queen; the Glaive. Like past expansions before it, there will also be a special collector’s edition for The Witch Queen. It’s available on the Bungie Store and will run you $249.99. (Don’t want the expansion and just the physical goodies? $150) If you’re looking to hop onto the store right now, it looks like there is a queue to get in. In addition to The Witch Queen, Bungie took time today to talk about their 30th Anniversary plans. Special-themed content will be coming to Destiny 2 in December. Most will be free, but players will also be able to purchase the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack for Destiny 2. The pack will include new weapons and armor inspired by past Bungie games and a dungeon inspired by the loot cave in the original Destiny. Bungie closed the show with Season of the Lost, which went life today and will lead directly into The Witch Queen. Mara Sov is back, and she wants to have a sit down with Savathûn. A new six-player activity, Astral Alignment, also began today. Players will work together to find Mara Sov’s lost tech witches and unlock more secrets of the Shattered Realm. You’ll also be able to seek out a new Exotic weapon – Ager’s Scepter, and it looks like having that weapon will unlock new areas of the Shattered Realm. With the Season of the Lost, cross-play is officially live on Destiny 2. Are you excited to team up with friends you haven’t gotten to play with before? Let us know!
