Yesterday, Ubisoft announced that the next expansion to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Siege of Paris, will release on August 12th. Infiltration Missions are returning to the series with this expansion, like the Black Box Missions from Assassin’s Creed Unity. Players are going to get their hands on a whole host of new stuff – from new weapons, skills, abilities, and gear. (One-handed swords, you guys!) Before The Siege of Paris goes live, players will be treated to the Sirgblot Festival, a limited-time event in-game. It’s a traditional Viking festival that’s meant to mark the start of the raiding season and will include tournaments, Orlog mini-games, new quests, and new rewards. If you want to experience the festival, just make sure that you’ve reached England and have completed either the Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire arcs, and have your settlement reach level two. The Sigrblot Festival runs from July 29th to August 19th and is free to all players. The Siege of Paris was a real event in Viking history, taking place over the course of a year (885-886). After Charles III refused to give the Vikings tribute, they began to attack the city. They kept the siege going through early 886 when most left to continue pillaging other areas of West Francia. Odo, the Count of Paris at the time, managed to sneak past enemy territory to plead with Charles III for aid. In the summer of 886, the Vikings made a final attempt to take the city but were repelled once more. (Fun fact! Instead of making them sail home, Charles let the Vikings raze Burgundy, which was in revolt against his rule. The Vikings got 700 pounds of silver from Charles when they finally withdrew.) The Siege of Paris is free to those who have purchased the Valhalla Season Pass. If you just want to play The Siege of Paris, it’s $34.99. Will you be downloading it on day one?
