Thatgamecompany became a developer to watch in 2012 when Journey released on the PS3. After bringing it to the PlayStation 4 as well as PC and iOS devices, they released a new game in 2019 called Sky: Children of the Light. It had been exclusive to iOS and Android devices, but it will soon be joining the Nintendo Switch family on June 29th.

Sky is an open world “social adventure” game where players explore the world wearing a cape that gives them the ability to fly. Like Journey, interacting with others in the world gives a player boosts and boons, and befriending others can even unlock new abilities. As someone who’s played it since its release, I find it a super unique experience that if you loved playing Journey, you’ll love this.

Also announced at Summer Game Fest was a new season on Sky, a limited-time event featuring the book character Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) that will begin on July 6th.

Are you looking forward to playing Journey’s spiritual successor? Let us know!
