While the battle royale genre continues to grow without an end in sight, Nintendo has revealed Pac-Man 99, and the new multiplayer game that builds on the battle royale genre, and Pac-Man (if we are all being honest), will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online subscription service today. Take a look! PAC-MAN™ is back in a new 99-PAC-MAN battle royale! PAC-MAN™ 99 goes live 4/7 at 6 PM PST, exclusively for #NintendoSwitchOnline members! #PACMAN99 🟡🟡🟡 https://t.co/mnzEYXJnBl pic.twitter.com/1qOsEEvbHD — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) April 7, 2021 Seemingly taking some of its inspiration from other retro classics that have been seeking a battle royale makeover lately (Yeah, we are talking about you Super Mario Bros. 35 and Tetris 99). Pac-Man 99 puts you and 99 other players into a lobby and throws a ton of obstacles your way to see who ends up NOT devoured by ghosts. Each player has their own screen, but gobbling a power pellet, eating ghosts, and sending “Jammer Pac-Man” over to enemies’ screens is all part of the game. There seems to be a strategy that the video above seems to give you right away which is to be as disruptive as possible if you intend to win. You’ll be able to mess up opponent’s games in eight pre-determined ways by sending eaten ghosts over to their screens. You can read more about the game on the exclusive Nintendo page.
