August and September mark the start of the busiest time of the year for video game releases, and this September is no exception. Even with some games getting delayed out of the month, it’s still going to be a big one with a little something for everyone. Now more than ever, release dates are subject to change. We’ll do our best to keep this list updated.

Marvel’s Avengers – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, PC

Release Date: September 4th

After successfully rebooting Lara Croft with Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics shifted gears to superheroes. The game has seen its fair share of buzz recently; some good and some not so good. It looks like there’s going to be a good deal of content in the game, and with the cast of voice actors, can it really go wrong?

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: September 4th

Nostalgia reigns! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater kickflipped its way into our hearts all the way back in 1999. The series has seen several releases since, with a few misfires happening. (I’m looking at you, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5.) With the release of the Warehouse Demo last month, players got a taste of what’s to come: 4K visuals, a soundtrack that new players and old players will dig, and all the features we loved from its initial release.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

Release Date: September 8th

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has an interesting history behind its 2012 release, but more important are the minds behind the RPG. Ken Rolston, the lead designer for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was Reckoning’s executive designer, author R.A. Salvatore created the game universe and lore, and comic book creator and artist Todd McFarlane was the man behind the art. The IP spent many years in limbo until THQ Nordic purchased the rights in 2018 and announced plans to re-release it for current-gen consoles.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC

Release Date: September 18th

After some rocky WWE 2K launches, 2K Games announced earlier this year that the franchise would skip a 2K21 entry, and instead release Battlegrounds. It’s an extreme, arcade-style wrestling game that’s been developed by Saber Interactive, the same studio behind NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, Spintires: Mudrunner, and World War Z.

Baldur’s Gate III (Early Access) – Stadia, PC

Release Date: September 30th

Larian Studios, the team behind Divinity: Original Sin, announced they were taking on Baldur’s Gate III in June of 2019. It’s being released in stages; the first stage being Early Access at the end of September. Larian wants to keep the game in Early Access for at least a year and warned that if players aren’t ready for a polished experience to not purchase it now. The first stage will feature about 25 hours of content, six player classes, and five origin characters you can recruit, but not play as (for now). Baldur’s Gate III will utilize the 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons ruleset in the game.
