Today Microsoft confirmed they’re halting production for Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital consoles to make way for the Xbox Series X.

Reported by The Verge:

“As we ramp into the future with Xbox Series X, we’re taking the natural step of stopping production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,” says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. “Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold globally.”

This is very quick. Most console manufactures wait years before discontinuing a console line. While Xbox Ones will still be built the more powerful version of the Xbox One console is being discounted. It does make sense as Xbox Series X is just a heavily upgraded Xbox One and Microsoft has confirmed backward compatibility for the next-gen system.

Currently, Microsoft has a press event set for July 23rd. This presentation will feature more gameplay footage including new information and gameplay for Halo Infinite. Many expect Microsoft will reveal the price and release date of the system as well. Including if this all-digital version of the Xbox Series X is real.
