Since the reveal of Spider-Man Miles Morales, many were confused about how this title would fit into the Marvel’s Spider-Man narrative. After the first game ended, both the core game and DLC, many thought this was a sequel but it’s a bit more confusing than that.

According to IGN:

Speaking to The Telegraph (and spotted by VGC), Sony’s VP head of European Business, Simon Rutter explained: “I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game. There’s a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features.”

However, according to Insomniac, the title is a “standalone game”. So is it an expansion, standalone title separate from Peter’s adventures, or bridge between Marvel’s Spider-Man and the next game? Judging from the trailer and how The City that Never Sleeps ended this adventure will likely take place after Miles completes his training with Peter and takes on the role of Spider-Man. However, it doesn’t explain what happened to Peter and where he is.

Spider-Man Miles Morales is set to release on the PS5 this holiday season.
