The Tokyo Game Show and Paris Games Week are the two latest industry events to see cancellations due to the ongoing COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

The Tokyo Game Show was due to take place in late September at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe, and Paris Games Week was slated to take place at the end of October. Both events commonly attract more than 250,000 attendees, with Paris Games Week reaching 316,000 back in 2018.

Like Gamescom, however, TGS will host an online event. Video Game Chronicle reported a statement from the organizer of the yearly event on Friday.

“Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on a global scale and the situation remains unpredictable in Japan as well, the organizer and the co-organizers have reached his decision after a long consideration to place the utmost priority on the health and safety of visitors, exhibitors and stakeholders. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.”

There are no plans currently for an online Paris Games Week, however, as organizers wrote in their statement that they’re already preparing for next year instead. We’ve included an English translation of their statement (click for larger image):

If Paris Games Week does decide to do something online, we’ll keep you posted!
