The Paper Mario series has been around since 2000, and on every major Nintendo system since. With the Switch turning three this year and being more popular than ever thanks to some of the side-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nintendo dropped some news that we’d see more Paper Mario in 2020! The Paper Mario series arrives on #NintendoSwitch with an origami twist! What evil paper shenanigans does the Origami King have planned? Find out when #PaperMario: The Origami King releases on 7/17!https://t.co/Zw9epBSIZp pic.twitter.com/4fUGYDcGjG — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) May 14, 2020 That’s right – Paper Mario: The Origami King is set to release on July 17th, just two short months away. Mario’s getting a new partner in Origami King named Olivia, and together they’re going to team up with several allies throughout the course of the game (including Bowser and the Toads!) to battle evil Folded Soldiers. The end goal? Trying to free Princess Peach’s castle from King Olly, the ruler of the Origami Kingdom. Mario will have new abilities in Origami King, including the 1,000-Fold Arms ability, which is a new way to interact with the environment, solve puzzles, and battle enemies. The battles will be ring-based, as seen in the screenshot below, and should be an interesting way to show off that ability. The game will run $59.99, and is available for pre-order both physically at your local retailer and digitally on your Switch/Switch Lite console!
