With the current global pandemic its probably best to get a digital copy, or get Xbox Game Pass as it’ll be available for the service on day-1. Gears Tactics doesn’t place during the original trilogy but during the Locust war. Instead of a third-person shooter, this is an RTS title that has the Gears attempting to stop, and this is a direct quote from the Steam page, an “evil mastermind who makes monsters”. Okay then. Gears Tactics launches on PC and Xbox One this April 28th.
