GDC 2020 has been postponed and SXSW 2020 has been canceled due to the coronavirus. Many assume the same thing would happen to E3 but the ESA stated they’re moving forward despite the concerns, even with the State of California declaring a state of emergency. Well, more bad news. The creative directors for E3 2020, iam8bit, have pulled out of the event as creative directors. It’s with mixed emotions that @iam8bit has decided to resign as Creative Directors of what was to be an evolutionary #E32020 floor experience. We’ve produced hundreds of gaming + community events and it was a dream to be involved with E3. We wish the organizers the best of luck. — iam8bit (@iam8bit) March 5, 2020 1 month before this Geoff Keighley confirmed he would not be attending the event despite being one of the biggest promoters of E3. With the event only 3 months away many wonder if this is it for E3. If the event is canceled publishers and developers will likely use digital streaming to advertise their products, similar to Nintendo. But we’ll have to wait and see.
