Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s next big update is rumored to be a battle royale mode. Today, that was confirmed. With user Chaos providing new information about the free-to-play stand-alone mode.

First off, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Warzone is a stand-alone free-to-play mode available to everyone. If you have a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare all your cosmetics will transfer over.

The battle royale mode contains your standard rules. Players, 150 expected, drop onto a map until the last player or team is left. The map will shrink as the battle progresses and all participates must scavenge for weapons and resources during the course of the fight.

According to Chaos’ footage and word, you’ll be dropping into a map with a pistol instead of nothing. The map is a custom map with iconic maps from the Call of Duty franchise used to fill in locations. Players can play alone, with 1 ally, or 2. You must scavenge for weapons and plated armor that increases your armor rating and money. Money is earned by killing, found on the field, and completing challenges. You can use the money to purchase killstreaks and respawn tokens.

Those killed enter the Gulag where you face another player in a 1v1 match. The winning gets to respawn. Those spectating the match and waiting their turn can throw rocks to stun players in the gulag match. This is a 1 catch to revive match and only happens during times during a match.

The game mode will include a ping system and a rarity system for weapons.

Chaos promises to deliver more information this week about another in-game mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
