Gearbox Software’s online multiplayer game Battleborn will go offline in 2021 according to an announcement made by 2K.

The game released to mix reviews and never gained the type of traction other online mutliplayer games received that were released within the same time frame.  According to the post from 2K the game has been removed from digital storefronts and after February 24, 202 players will no longer be able to purchase the in-game currently “Platinum.” The servers are to remain active and the game playable until January 2021 but once servers are deactivated the game will no longer be playable.

Players with in-game currency will still be able to spend their currency within this time frame and currency will be granted through playing, however, the ability to purchase it will end on February 24, 2020.

2K states that the sunsetting of the game is to focus efforts and resources on other projects.
