The Need for Speed franchise hit a massive roadblock with Need for Speed Payback back in 2017. Like EA’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 the game was oversaturated with progression gating microtransactions shown as a slot machine. Now, EA is attempting a new entry set for this fall called Need for Speed Heat.

EA and developer Ghost Games did state in a press release that the game will feature  “expressive customization, authentic urban car culture, and an immersive narrative that pulls you into the game.” That’s all well good and all but does it contain a slot machine? After all, EA has become the brand most notorious for heavily monetizing their premium games with free-to-play-like microtransactions.

Need for Speed Heat launches this November 8th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
