Rainbow Six Siege is one of Ubisoft’s most successful games this generation. However, it seems that the company has plans for the game beyond this generation. With Brand Director Alexandre Remy confirming that plans for the future of the game including a new version of the game being developed for next-generation platforms.

The interview was held by Daily Star, with Remy stating “We don’t want a sequel whatoever” but instead the game will come to next-generation consoles. This will allow every player to play together on different platforms according to Remy.

When asked about owners of Rainbow Six Siege on PS4 and Xbox One Remy stated “We’ve been asking how can we make the player base of Siege today be able to migrate — if they want to migrate, that is — but also make this cheaper [than buying a new, next-gen copy of the game] as much as possible or through backwards compatibility”

This does align with Ubisoft’s live service plans for all their titles. Updating current games with new content over time. And it seems that a new generation of consoles won’t stop that plan.

Rainbow Six Siege is available right now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
