Nintendo’s final reveal of E3 2019 gave palpable chills: players will be returning to the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a terrifying horror twist. This new adventure will not be a DLC expansion. Instead, it was announced as an entire sequel game to Breath of the Wild. In this trailer, we see familiar incarnations of Link and Zelda. We also see familiar shots of Breath of the Wild‘s large open world. However, there is something very, very wrong in this version of Hyrule. If the eerie, reversed music doesn’t spook you out, you’ll definitely get the creeps from the mystical corpse that awakens at the end of the trailer. The game has no official title. The trailer simply confirms that development is now in progress. What do you think of this announcement? Personally, much about this project reminds us of Majora’s Mask. Much like how this game seemingly re-uses assets from Breath of the Wild, Majora’s Mask borrowed heavily from its predecessor, Majora’s Mask. In addition, this trailer emphasizes supernatural horror, just as Majora’s Mask did.
