Announced today ahead of tomorrow’s launch of the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, Konami has confirmed that the Japanese versions of the eight included titles will be available soon after launch as a free download.

Other than the switch in language, minor changes such as candle locations, difficulty, and, in some cases, the ability to save games can be found in the Japanese versions.

Available on Thursday, May 16th via digital download for all major home platforms, the collection brings together titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and Sega Genesis as part of the celebration of Konami’s 50th anniversary. The collection follows Konami Arcade Classics released last month. The Contra Anniversary Collection set to release later this summer.
