During today’s Nintendo Direct, Platinum Games showed off a brand new action RPG game titled Astral Chain. It boasts Platinum Games’s signature combat, flashiness and all, and a sci-fi universe of mechs and robotic power suits.

In Platinum’s latest original project, you’ll be playing as a police special forces unit in a multi-cultural futuristic city. These cops will be armed with a “humanoid special weapon” known as Legion to take down terrorists and monsters of sorts.

Astral Chain has some seriously heavyweight names behind it. Hideki Kamiya, the creator of both Bayonetta and a number of Capcom hits like Devil May Cry, is supervising development. The game’s director will be Takahisa Taura, who was game designer for NieR: Automata. Finally, the manga artist Masakazu Katsura will be in charge of character design.

If you’re wondering where Bayonetta 3 was during Platinum Games’ portion of today’s Nintendo Direct, you can rest assured. They confirmed development was still going well and told fans to look forward to updates about it in the future.

Astral Chain will launch for Nintendo Switch on August 30, 2019.
