Today (2/28) famous brand Nike, announced a sweet four-year sponsorship deal with TJ Sports for China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL), from 2019-2022. According to the announcement, the two organizations will be designing a brand new “Nike & LPL” joint esports-themed apparel line. All of which the public will have to keep an eye out for after the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational. In addition to that, during the League of Legends World Championship, the new official branded LPL team jersey will be shown off. Lin “Leo” Song, co-CEO of TJ Sports said: “This would be a significant partnership deal between Nike and LPL, we are also looking forward to seeing Nike’s supports from traditional sports into LPL, to help the esports players and team.” As far as odd aspects of the deal, Nike will design physical training programs for the LPL teams. This will be to “help players build physically stronger bodies and to adapt to high-level competitive tournaments.” The deal would also see that all LPL players, coaches, referees, and team managers would have to exclusively wear all branded clothing and shoes on game days.
