Nintendo will be hosting official tournaments for two of their hottest esports titles, Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Open qualifiers will start soon, and those who qualify will be able to attend a final tournament to be held at PAX East on March 30th. Smash—or splat—your way to victory in two new tournaments! The qualifiers are divided regionally into Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast. If you’re not sure where which region you’d fall into, you can check here. You can also check out the rule sets online. Smash Bros. will be played as 3-stock matches with item appearances set on low and Smash Balls on. The final event will feature both a one-on-one match tournament and 3v3 Squad Strike tournament. As for Splatoon, qualifiers will be played on Turf War mode. At the final event, the first stage will be a Round Robin, where teams will compete in Turf War mode. The seeded round and finals will make use of Splatoon’s ranked modes: Tower Control, Rainmaker, Clam Blitz, Splat Zones, Splat Zones, Rainmaker, and Tower Control.
