2019 has a lot of strong titles launching this year. With the year opening up with acclaimed games such as Kingdom Hearts III and Resident Evil 2 2019. But there are some games that don’t have a release date and could release this year, or not. Here are 5 games we hope will release in 2019.

5. Beyond Good & Evil 2

Square Enix isn’t the only studio that is notorious for having games in development hell. Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development for more than a decade and only recently have we heard anything about the game. Unfortunately, the information about the game hasn’t been ideal for fans. With confirmation that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will need an online connection and is a prequel to the original game. Hopefully, it’ll finally launch this year, because at this point fans just want something.

4. Death Stranding

Development for Death Stranding, according to Sony, has been progressing well and lots of rumors have been surfacing about Hideo Kojima’s next big game coming out this year. However, many gamers, like myself, have no idea what the title is about but are nevertheless excited for it. The gameplay and trailers shown have been cryptic to everyone else Kojima. In an interview with IGN, director Hideo Kojima was surprisingly forthcoming with new insights.

“Death will never pull you out of the game,” he says, noting that the surreal underwater sequence from the latest trailer is where players go when they die. While here, you’ll be able to explore outside of your body from a first-person perspective. “At that point, you’re not dead or alive. It’s the equivalent of that screen that says ‘Continue?’ and a counter ticking down towards zero.”

Hopefully it’ll launch this year so we can start understanding, or not understanding, this enigma of a game.

3. Metroid Prime 4

Samus Aran is one of the more neglected IPs in Nintendo’s library, with Nintendo never making an effort to celebrate Samus’ birthday. But rarely does this series deliver a poor installment, even Metroid Prime: Federation Force, while negatively received when it debuted, was a solid Metroid title. When fans heard of Metroid Prime 4’s development it made a lot of gamers happy, Samus was finally coming back. Since no gameplay or even an image it’s unlikely Metroid Prime 4 will release this year but we can hope.

2. Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch has been notorious for delivering solid action-adventure titles such as Sly Cooper and inFamous but has decided to branch to samurai combat. When Ghost of Tsushima was shown fans were floored, even more so when Sony released gameplay footage at E3 2018. The presentation alone had fans throwing their money at the screen, especially in the final fight where the color palette that goes beyond anything seen in a game like this. It’s unlikely it’ll release this year but lets hope it does.

1. The Last of Us: Part 2

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us: Part 2 has been on the minds of a lot of gamers since the launch of the previous game. The gameplay footage shown at E3 2018 coupled with the small pieces of information provided by Naughty Dog have had fans eagerly awaited a launch date. Many hope it’ll be this year and hopefully it is.
