Despite launching with a lot of criticism Sea of Thieves has a robust community with Rare providing regular updates to the title. And today Microsoft confirmed that the sale exceeded sales expectations.

According to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, the Xbox head told Giant Bomb that the game sold “significantly more” than the company projected but didn’t provide a number. This is surprising considering that Microsoft is offering all exclusive first-party games through Xbox Game Pass on their launch day, which would seem didn’t affect the sales.

Sea of Thieves is available now for PC and Xbox One.
