The Division 2 is seeking to fix many of the issues of the first game by providing free DLC for Year 1, more varied environments, and more unlockables. However, Ubisoft has confirmed that microtransactions will be returning. Ubisoft Massive’s Associate Creative Director Chasdi El-Zibaoui told GamingBolt in an interview that the game will have cosmetic microtransactions but didn’t state if they’re loot boxes or direct purchases. “For now we’re keeping the same strategy as the first game: It’s all about vanity. We really want Division 2 to be a fair experience for everyone. Now regarding loot boxes I can’t comment about those at the moment.” The return of cosmetics shouldn’t come as a surprise as it was a big part of the original game. It’s unlikely Ubisoft will provide loot boxes considering the new influx of laws and policies around the world regarding the controversial system. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 launches on March 15, 20,19 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
