The next season of competitive play for Overwatch has started.

Like previous seasons players will have to content in 10 matches before being placed into a bracket. Once placed players can improve their standings by playing, but those who make it to the top 500 must continue playing in order to maintain their rank. Those who maintain reach the top 500 ranked players by the end of the season will earn a special animated spray. However, new changes have been implemented this season.

Player skill rating has been adjusted to ensure more balanced teams.

  • 1000 SR for Bronze through Diamond
  • 500 SR for Master
  • 250 SR for Grandmaster

This change should help players at both the lower and higher limits of Skill Rating get placed with allies and against opponents of a similar skill level, which in turn should lead to more satisfying games overall.

Blizzard has removed personal performance Skill Rating adjustments for Diamond-tier players. This is to encourage winning matches above personal performance.

Overwatch is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
