The Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee may have been scrapped but the Nintendo Switch version is on its way.

Playtonic Games confirmed that the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie will launch on Nintendo’s latest console handheld hybrid December 14th.

Developed by former Rare employees, the game was predominantly funded through Kickstarter, reaching its goal in under 40 minutes. In the end, the campaign raised £2,090,104 and allowed the team at Playtonic Games to work on the game full-time.

Team17 assisted in the game’s localization, product certification, quality assurance, marketing, and other non-developer tasks. Yooka-Layle was delayed to early 2017, previously announced for 2016 released, and launched on April 11, 2017, for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Linux, and Mac. The Wii U version was canceled for the Nintendo Switch version.
