In an unexpected turn of events, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting a mobile version in China.

Tencent, the publisher responsible for localizing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for China, announced that the PC game will be ported to mobile devices. Tencent did not give any information on when the mobile port will be ready, but they did say they intend to provide a faithful port of the PC game. Considering that players will have to use touch pad controls instead of mouse and keyboard, perhaps not everything will be straight.

If the port does well in China, we could see it make its way to other regions. If not, it may remain a China exclusive.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now available on Steam through early access and will launch for Xbox One on December 12th.
