EA and DICE gave excited Star Wars Battlefront II fans the first look they’ve been waiting for today, during EA’s EA Play conference. In a nearly 30-minute presentation, audiences were treated to raw multiplayer gameplay from an alpha build of the game, and there was a lot to unpack. According to developer DICE, Battlefront II will boast over three times the content than that of its predecessor, including more heroes, more planets, more vehicles, more space battles and whole lot more progression and customization. In addition to being a larger game, DICE will be offering free downloadable content for the title after release. Yes, free. Multiplayer gameplay took place in the huge urban map Assault on Theed, said to be one map of many featured in Battlefront II. As massive of a combat area as we would expect from the Battlefield studio, Theed was rife with chaos throughout the demonstration, with weapons fire filling the streets, and skies, without fail. Dogfighting looks noticeably smooth this time around, and Jedis — including Darth Maul, Rey, and Boba Fett — look like a blast on the field. The demo also shed some light on what classes players will be able to choose from, including the sniper-wielding Specialist, the support-oriented Officer, and the buffed-up Heavy. While we didn’t get a look at space combat just yet, if ground combat is any indicator, we’re in for a fun Star Wars romp. Star Wars Battlefront II is set to release Nov. 17, 2017.
