Since the legendary bird Articuno accidentally appeared for a Pokémon GO player in Ohio, there have been no other sightings of the rare Pokémon in the mobile game. In a recent interview with Wired’s German division, Hanke states who recently teased the possibility for legendary Pokémon making an appearance in future Pokémon GO updates. The update would include the three legendary birds Articuno, Zapados, and Moltres along with Mew and Mewtwo. This claim is only backed up by Archit Bhargava, Niantic’s global marketing lead’s, acceptance speech at the 21st Annual Webby awards saying “This summer will be legendary!” To see the short speech check out 19:00-19:20 of the video for Bhargava’s acceptance of Pokémon GO’s award for Best Mobile game of 2017.
