With most of the games in The Legend of Zelda series, a linear path with a single ending is usually expected. However, that may not be the case with the latest anticipated Zelda game.

In a recent interview with IGN Portugal, however, Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that the story for Breath of the Wild will have more than multiple endings. Which one you receive will be entirely based on your activities in the game.

“There is an alternate ending if you meet certain criteria,” said Aonuma, “If you do a few things, you may see a different ending,”

It was not revealed exactly what the criteria may be for achieving every possible ending, but this could mean Breath of the Wild could have different play-styles available with each run.

The interview continues with Aonuma also confirming that Link’s iconic horse, Epona, will also be in Breath of the Wild. Epona was first seen in Ocarina of Time and has since been featured in other pivotal Zelda games, such as Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess, as a major part of the game, but details involving what role she will play in the upcoming title were, again, kept to a minimum.

“As for Epona, she’s in Breath of the Wild, but I do not want to reveal details about how to find her, or what that means.”

Breath of the Wild releases on March 3 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. It will also be coming to the Wii U, which will likely mark it as one of the console’s final single-player titles.
