NetherRealm Studios held a recent Injustice 2 Twitch stream to reveal more gameplay, a look at one of the newest characters, and a lengthy Q&A session with director Ed Boon. Robin, Batman’s longtime partner, was officially revealed. Robin was teased in the Injustice 2 story trailer last week, but wasn’t confirmed in the playable roster until the stream. The Twitch stream revealed a brand new trailer that showcases his moves and his tense relationship with Batman in Injustice 2‘s story. This incarnation of Robin will be Damian Gray, the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. Robin uses a sword as his main weapon, but can use various batarangs that move around the screen and even explode. His movements are nimble and he’s capable of zoning pretty well too, it seems. During the stream, director Ed Boon also had a few key points to say about the roster. Injustice 2 will have the largest roster for a NetherRealm game, both in terms of on-disc and DLC characters. Although the roster looks somewhat small compared to its predecessor right now, this game will have a huge cast to look forward to. Ed Boon stated that the Injustice sequel will bring some of DC’s more obscure heroes into the fray. The first introduced many of DC’s most well-known characters, but the sequel offers a more varied selection. Lastly, expect non-DC characters like Scorpion in the first Injustice. Scorpion’s appearance and the third-party appearances in Mortal Kombat X were very popular, so NetherRealm plans to do more crossovers in the future. Injustice 2 will launch on May 16, 2017 for Xbox One and PS4. Codes for the beta are being currently sent out, so you can expect more gameplay footage to be coming your way soon.
