Developer Frontier believes what they were paid for developing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 was actually much less than the game’s actual sales, and Atari is to blame for this alleged lie.

According to TMZ, Frontier is certain that the game’s sales were higher than what Atari had them believe, and with that, Frontier would be owed more money than they received for their work on Roller Coaster Tycoo 3. The report states Frontier received $1.17 million for the entirety of their work, and they are owed an additional $2.2 million. Frontier is responsible for developing the core game as well as two expansions for both Mac and PC.

Frontier’s chief operating officer David Walsh had confirmed in a statement to Gamespot that Atari had denied their studio to receive accurate information and statistics regarding the game’s sales, and as a result, they will pursue legal action.

“We can confirm Frontier is currently pursuing a complaint against Atari,” said Walsh. “We have attempted to resolve this issue without legal action since April 2016. We have so far been denied our contractual right to audit by Atari, and we are unfortunately left with no other way to resolve our concerns. We are unable to offer any further comment while the matter is subject to due legal process.”

Atari had filed for Bankruptcy in January 2013, later securing funding of $2 million and returning to publish games.
