Its no argument that both music and sound play vital roles in creating unique and memorable experiences for gamers. This is no exception in Fumito Ueda’s newest creation, The Last Guardian. The soundtrack was composed, conducted, and orchestrated by Takeshi Furukawa; and accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Boys Choir, and London Voices at Air Studios. Sony has also released behind the scenes footage of the making of the soundtrack:

Sony will release The Last Guardian Composer’s Choice PS4 Music App separately on December 6th when the game is released, and the full soundtrack on iTunes at a later date.  According to Sony

“The soundtrack app supports both stereo and surround playback, and also allows users to export all the tracks as stereo MP3 files via a compatible USB drive.”

For those who like to collect and have the ability to listen to vinyl, I highly suggest ordering the vinyl copy of the OST.  The art was created by Fables artist, Nimit Malavia, and features beautiful scenes and character art which can be seen here:

Ueda has also created a custom audio mode for Playstation headset owners that are compatible with the Headset Companion App.  The Last Guardian is set to release December 6, 2016 for the Playstation 4.

About me: Christine "smollbirb" Marten is a recent college grad that has been playing video games since she was gifted with her first NES console in 1999. Known as LuxAterna on Steam, she started as a games journalist in 2012 and has been writing about games and the industry since. In college, she acted as the president/clubmother for the gaming club, and hosted her own gaming radio show called SoundWave Games. When she is not gaming she can be seen cosplaying at conventions, working with non-profits that fundraise through video games (like Extra Life and Child's Play), acting as community manager for The Senpai Project, playing League of Legends with friends, or serenading passerbyers with her violin skills on the streets of NYC. She will literally play anything that is thrown at her (but please don't throw to hard she is smoll). She enjoys indie games and horror games especially, and her favorite series of all times is Kingdom Hearts. Her third love, after video games and violin, is puns. Although it is a dangerous life she makes them whenever she hears the opportunity to do so. Christine hopes to bring her own spin on storytelling to the GAW community as she continues to seek out whatever the world has to offer!
