The SNES vampire-hunting, side-scrolling, classic Super Castlevania IV is now available on the 3DS eShop, however, it is only playable on the New 3DS. More good news, it only costs $8.

Just as a little history lesson for all the you people out there, Super Castlevania IV released on December 4, 1991, and was developed and published by Konami. It was the first Castlevania on the Super Nintendo and featured the same Belmont character and setting from the very first game in the series on the original NES.

The Wii U actually already has Super Castlevania IV on its Virtual Console, though buying it on one platform unfortunately won’t get it for you on the 3DS. The eShop doesn’t support cross-platform playing or buying, so fans will just have to purchase the game on both platforms if they want to play it on both.

You said it Shikamaru…

The New 3DS is the only Nintendo handheld with SNES games available on its Virtual Console. There are a bunch of games available that are regarded as some of the best games of all time; including Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, they also added fan favorites to the list of games you can play such as Donkey Kong Country, EarthBound, and Super Punch-Out.
