It would seem as though the hype is beginning to fade, as a game that began as a complete phenomenon has lost over 15 million daily players in only one month. Pokémon Go, Niantic’s powerhouse of a mobile experience, has began to show players’ disinterest in the game (via graphs from Axiom Capital Management).

The graphs themselves show that over 50 percent of Pokémon Gos daily engagement has decreased, and the search topic “augmented reality” has been searched far less since Pokémon Go’s initial release. Victor Anthony, The senior analyst for Axiom Capital, had commented on the recent decrease in Pokémon Go activity, and the future of augmented reality games.

“The declining trends should assuage investor concerns about the impact of Pokémon Go on time spent on the above named companies,” wrote Anthony.

He goes on to say that this could quite possibly mean trouble for augmented reality games in general, although “interest in virtual reality remains high.”

Pokémon Go had initially reached it’s high point one month ago, being the number one free app on the App store. However now currently it has been bumped down to the 11th spot.
