Yesterday Sony announced that it would be making a “very limited” supply of its PlayStation VR headsets available for pre-order starting today, June 30th, at 7 AM PT as part of “summer wave” of availability. Well, that ship has sailed apparently, as GameSpot reported it sold out of the pre-orders “within minutes” of them becoming available. Sony has said that there will be no more units available anywhere until they officially go on sale in October. Sony has commented that consumers should expect supply shortages when the device officially goes on sale, with PlayStation president Andrew House going so far as to say, “We have growing confidence that we’ll be supply constrained with this product, but we’ll do our very best to meet demand. Virtual reality is a medium that’s in its infancy. With such a nascent, very new form of storytelling, it’s difficult to predict what user uptake is going to be.” For more on PlayStation VR, stay tuned to Gamer Assault Weekly. Source
