ESL released a statement about the upcoming Major in Cologne.

ESL One Cologne 2016 is set to take place from July 5th-10th with the group stages running from the 5th to the 7th. The playoffs will begin the 8th and conclude the 10th. The group stage portion of the tournament will take place behind closed doors and the playoff stage of the tournament will be played in the LANXESS Arena in front of thousands of fans.

Sixteen teams will compete in Cologne, Germany for their chunk of the $1,000,000 prize pool. The teams will be divided into four groups of four teams with the top two teams advancing from each group to the playoffs. The first matches as well as the winners and losers matches will be best of one, but the deciding matches will be best of three. The playoffs will be a single elimination tournament and all playoff matches will be best of three series. Seven playoff matches will be played on the main stage in the LANXESS arena while the other matches will be played on side stages.

The teams currently qualified for ESL One Cologne are Luminosity, Natus Vincere, Astralis, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Fnatic, Counter Logic Gaming and Virtus.pro. The remaining eight spots in the tournament will be determined this weekend at the offline qualifier in Katowice, Poland.
