Firaxis has announced that XCOM 2, originally set to release this October, will now release after the new year.

“We’ve set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown,” says the developer. “We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game.”

XCOM 2 is now slated to release on February 5, 2016.

The sequel is set to hit PC only when it launches, but a console release at some point has not been completely ruled out. The game is set 20 years into the future after XCOM: Enemy Within‘s events and depicts a world that has been taken over by aliens.
