Dreamhack, the world’s largest digital festival that originated in Sweden, has announced that they will be finally hosting Super Smash Bros. Melee tournaments at both their London and Jönköping events this year. According to their Head of eSports Christian Lord, this is the tournament fans have been requesting the most and they are excited to support Super Smash Bros. Melee and build the European community.

The first tournament will take place at Dreamhack London, running September 19th-20th with an open singles tournament that they boast will have a prize pool of $20,000. Dreamhack Winter will be held November 26th-29th in Jönköping, Sweden and will feature both singles and doubles tournaments with a prize pool of $30,000.

However, their scheduling does conflict with the HTC Throwdown Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament so that throws a bit of a wrench into fans’ plans, right? Wrong. Dreamhack is so enthusiastic about their Smash events that they are going to be inviting the players that place top 2 in each tournament to Dreamhack Winter 2015. If the players accept their invitation then Dreamhack will be covering both lodging and travel costs so they can attend the event.
