Capcom has announced that fan-favorite Resident Evil 2 is getting the remake treatment.

The remake is being headed by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi at R&D Division 1. Hirabayashi served as a producer on this year’s Resident Evil HD Remaster.

“You’ve been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven’t been able to make it happen… until now!” said Hirabayashi. “We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you’ve been waiting for.”

It seems that development on the project is in the very early stages and that fans shouldn’t expect updates or a release date anytime soon.

And in case you missed it, Capcom announced earlier this year that they are also in the process of remaking Resident Evil Zero, which is slated for release in early 2016.
