With Star Wars Battlefront releasing in November of this year, many people have wondered if EA plans to release another iteration of the battlefield series in 2016, even though it is highly likely that support for Battlefront will continue throughout 2016.

EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that another Battlefield game would release in 2016, and also gave some insight into the company’s plans moving forward during a recent investors call.

“What we’ve said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles. This year it’s Star Wars: Battlefront. Next year, it’s another Battlefield title.”

From what we know so far, the new Battlefield game will go back to the military style of play that has been a staple of the series up until the release of Battlefield: Hardline.

In addition to the Battlefield talk, EA’s COO Peter Moore pointed out that Star Wars Battlefront is enjoying strong pre-orders, and according to analysts, Battlefront is expected to sell between 9-10 million copies by March 2016.

Pre-orders for Battlefront are now open, so make sure to get your pre-order in before the game releases on November 17th.
