Rockstar does have some form of commitment to supporting the Xbox 360 and PS4 versions of GTA V but unfortunately at some point in the future, they may not be able to have updates for any version except Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

In Rockstar’s latest Asked and Answered feature, a fan asked if players who partake in GTA V for 360 and PS3 would be deserted now that the game is available for the newer consoles. Rockstar replied with “certainly not” and explained that features such as heists and the Christmas update are good examples of cross-generation support. Yet some features may be left only to the newer console versions, such as first-person mode.

“We are incredibly thankful to our original generation of GTA V and GTA Online players on those systems and wish to continue providing content to them for as long as we can,” the developer explained. “Of course, at some point in the future, there may be a point where we reach the limits for the previous generation of consoles as there may be some updates that are only technically possible on the new hardware–but we do hope to continue delivering as many updates as we can for all four consoles for as long as possible.”
