In a sad turn of events, storied Japanese developer of video games, Westone Bit Entertainment, has been hit with bankruptcy. Part of the video game industry for almost 30 years, it’s truly a somber day for Monster World and Wonder Boy fans around the world.

The Westone official website has already been taken down and the Facebook has been left inactive for some time. As a result of the bankruptcy Westone Bit’s IPs will enter a hiatus and eventually be purchasable.

Aloha, Wonder Boy

It will be interesting to see if Sega decides to acquire the rights to Monster World and Wonder Boy. Maybe they’ll just buy Westone entirely, after all, Sega did acquire Atlus earlier this year.
