Yup, you absolutely read that headline correctly and this is not a fever dream. The film production company, Threshold Entertainment, who brought us smash blockbusters like 1995’s Mortal Kombat live action adaptation and it’s hot sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation have partnered with The Tetris Company to churn out a movie.

I have lost many hours of my life to Tetris.

I have lost many hours of my life to Tetris.

While a look into the past at the storied history of Tetris and the tribulations that surrounded the licensing of it would be pretty darn interesting, that is a movie to be made another day. Tetris, the feature film, is planned to be an epic sci-fi adventure. Little has been revealed at the point, so no one has any real idea about what Tetris will hold for movie goers if it ever makes it to the big screen, but I have my fingers crossed for a live action adaption. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the heroic “L block,” Vin Diesel as an insidiously evil “T-block.” Remember, Battleship made it work and raked in roughly 300 million.

With Threshold Entertainment’s production history, the Tetris movie, if it ever makes it into the world, is bound to find an audience somewhere.

Check out this trailer for the awesome and totally 100% authentic Tetris movie! (not an actual trailer for the real Tetris movie, still awesome.)
