Survival horror has probably become one of the most popular genres in gaming over the past 2 years, and that trend looks like it is going to continue growing with Atari’s announcement of 2 new survival horror games they are currently working on.

The first game that was announced was a remake/re-imagining of the classic horror game Alone in the Dark entitled Alone in the Dark: Illumination. Illumination will feature “the power of illumination”, which is probably alluding to the necessity to use light in anyway possible, and it will also feature a cooperative mode which will allow players to play with each other using hero classes and the special abilities they come with. The 4 hero classes are Hunter, Witch, Engineer, and Priest.

The other remake that Atari announced is a remake of the Atari 2600 title Haunted House. Haunted House: Cryptic Graves will place players inside of the Abbadon Grange estate where players will use psychic abilities to figure out puzzles and defeat the spirits that inhabit the manor.

Both games are set to release in fall 2014 for PC. You can see the trailer for Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Haunted House: Cryptic Graves below.
