The Assassins Creed movie that was slated to release next summer in August has been delayed and pushed back to 2016. Twentieth Century Fox pulled the adaption from next year’s summer release list. Fox has yet to set a new date for the film.

The news of the film based on Ubisoft historical fiction series came out in 2012, with Michael Fassenbender revealed as the leading man. For the past two years the details on the film have been sparse. There have been a few changes to the screenwriting staff, with Adam Cooper and Bill Collage now understood be to rewriting the script. The pair is currently working on Ridley Scotts Excodus: Gods and Kings among other projects.

The Hollywood Report notes that, according to “Fox Insider,”  Assassin’s Creed is expected to make its silver screen debut in 2016
